Bobby Clarke And The Flyers Stick It To The Golden Seals (January 9, 1972)

It's just simple logic that a guy like Bobby Clarke would have a few Gordie Howe Hat Tricks under his belt. The combination of Clarke's offensive ability and the fact he played for the Philadelphia Flyers for over a decade provides an extreme increase in odds. On January 9, 1972, prior to the Broad Street Bullies era, Bobby put up a GHHT in blowout over the California Golden Seals. He scored one goal and added two assists and, yes, got into a fight. The Game Played at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Flyers had a scoring explosion against California. The final score ended up 10-3 for the home team. The loss wasn't from a lack of trying as the Golden Seals put 38 shots at Philly goaltender Doug Favell. For the Flyers, it was just their 12th win in 39 games. Bobby Clarke had three points in the game but the Flyers certainly had other outstanding performances that night. Bill Lesuk had a hat trick while Serge Bernier and Rick Foley both had four point nights. Be

1981-82 Washington Capitals: 3 Gordie Howe Hat Tricks In One Game

On December 5, 1981, the Washington Capitals faced off against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Maple Leaf Gardens. To say both teams were in a bad mood would be a major understatement. In all, 261 minutes in penalties were handed out. There were 12 fighting majors assessed, along with 15 ten minute game misconducts. With the final score ending up 9-4 for the home team, there were pretty good odds that someone would end up with the Gordie Howe hat trick. With nine goals in the game, the odds were definitely in Toronto's favour. But... in an odd twist, the team that scored just four goals had, not one, but three players get the Gordie Howe hat trick! Dennis Maruk A 60 goal scorer in 1981-82, it's not a surprise that Dennis Maruk would be one of the three players. Maruk had a goal and two assists in the match and accumulated 17 minutes in penalties, five of which came in the form of a fighting major.  At 13:08 of the second period, Dennis scored Washington's fourth and final goal
